Dear Friends and Supporters of SCFM:

Merry Christmas to you!!

The stores are filled with all the people shopping for Christmas. We are all busy with the activities and preparing for time with family and friends.  And yet at your local food closet, we have many who come in only looking for a secure food supply.  When we think about and see all that has occurred these past few months, then we realize all the blessings God has provided to us.  At the Sunrise Christian Food Ministry we had our biggest Thanksgiving period ever!  About 1582 turkeys were received and 1530 distributed by Thanksgiving Day. And we had bags of supporting items for all those birds.  Wow!  We give a mighty shout to the Lord for His loving kindness and His faithfulness to supply all our needs.  We also experienced our busiest days - Monday 11/23 we had 127 families with 362 people and Tuesday 11/24 we had 102 families with 425 people.  Again, wow and praise for sufficient food supplies and volunteers to hand it all out..

We had asked for your help and you abundantly answered. We were blessed by food drives from several Scout troops, elementary, middle and high schools, churches, and service organizations.  In addition, individually you were generous in product donations and finances.  Not only did we have sufficient supplies for the Thanksgiving period, but the shelves have been resupplied to finish the year.

Attached is a chart showing the last 10 years of client activity.  Again, 2015 has continued showing an increased need in our community, but the rate of growth has slowed down.  Perhaps we will see this reduction throughout 2016.  We can only hope and pray for this to continue.

As previously mentioned, the opportunity was given to us in building a walk-in refrigerator / freezer.  We have received sufficient donations to go forward and bring this about.. We are currently in the process of preparing the drawings and calculations necessary to submit the application to the Planning Department of the City of Citrus Heights.  With their approval we will purchase the materials and build the combined unit.  Expected size is approximately 8 feet deep and 15 feet wide.  Half to be refrigeration and half to be freezer.  Our hope had been to have this completed by year end and now is delayed several months.  We expect to complete the project by the first quarter of 2016.  God is so faithful to meet and exceed all of our needs.

Our new Web site is up and running.  We hope the site will help answer questions of who, what, where, and when.  In addition, we have the ability to have secure online donations.  Our address is   http://sunrisechristianfoodministry.org

Take a look and give us your comments and suggestions.  We are still experiencing how to make it work and keep it updated.

We thank you for being diligent, faithful supporters. Please be praying with us and for us as we complete this busy year.  Our needs are for finances to obtain food, donations of products, and strength for our volunteers.  It is our joy to represent you to the needy in our community.  We give thanks to God for using you to meet our needs.

Thank you so much and again, Merry Christmas,
